A joint security operation between the Ogun and Lagos State Police Commands has resulted in the rescue of five kidnapped victims, the killing of four suspected kidnappers, and the arrest of 4 others in Ogun state. The rescue took place in a forest around Ogbere, along the J4 corridor of the Sagamu-Benin Expressway.
The Commissioners of Police in Ogun and Lagos states, Mr Bode Ojajuni and Mr Fatai Tijani, disclosed this while briefing newsmen on Saturday June 27 at the Police Training School, Iperu, on the activities of the joint operations.
According to Ojajuni, the Nigeria Police Force, under the directive of the Inspector-General of Police Mr Olatunji Disu, had inaugurated Operation “Kosaye” in Lagos and Ogun states to tackle criminal activities and reassure residents of adequate security. The operation was formally launched with the support of the governors of both states. “Kosaye” means “No space” in Yoruba.
Ojajuni said extensive operations had so far been conducted across several communities in both states, which had yielded multiple arrests, and the recovery of assorted weapons and other exhibits linked to criminal activities.
Both commissioners reaffirmed the police’s commitment to ensuring the safety of lives and property in both states.
