The Kebbi Police Command says it has arrested four suspects in connection with the recent farmers-herders clash in Gulma Town, Argungu Local Government Area. The Kebbi Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, SP Bashir Usman, disclosed this in a statement issued in Birnin Kebbi on Thursday June 25.
Usman said the suspects were arrested following ongoing investigations into the violent incident that resulted in the deaths of one farmer and seven herders. According to him, the suspects are Adamu Madugu, Musa Makera, Saidu Adamu, and Shafi’u Hamza. He added that the suspects would soon be arraigned before a competent court on charges bordering on criminal conspiracy, unlawful assembly, and culpable homicide.
The spokesperson said the Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Umar Hadejia, had assured families of the victims and members of the public that the command would pursue the case to its logical conclusion, with all those found culpable facing the full weight of the law.
Hadejia urged residents to remain calm and law-abiding, and to refrain from taking the law into their own hands, assuring that justice would be served. He added that further updates would be provided as investigations progress.
