TROOPS RESCUE KIDNAPPED VICTIMS, RECOVER RUSTLED LIVESTOCK

Troops of Operation Fansan Yamma rescued kidnapped victims, apprehended a suspected terrorist collaborator and recovered 318 rustled livestock during operations in Kaduna, Katsina and Zamfara.

According to an operational report made available on Friday June 19, troops deployed at Forward Operating Base Kadage rescued two women and a toddler abandoned by bandits in Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State. It said the victims were kidnapped in May from Kajenjere Tami village and were reportedly being moved to another bandit camp before troops intervened. The rescued victims received medical attention before being reunited with their relatives.

The report also revealed that a 19-year-old suspected terrorist collaborator was arrested at a checkpoint along the Kaura Namoda-Zurmi road in Zamfara state, while an offensive operation targeting forest enclaves in Matazu local government area in Katsina state led to the recovery of 318 rustled livestock, comprising 36 cattle, 280 sheep and two donkeys.

The army said the troops also reassured residents of affected communities of continued military support and prompt response to distress calls.
