The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says the Ondo South Senatorial District by-election has been largely peaceful, with voting commencing on schedule in most polling units across the district.
Speaking while monitoring the exercise in Okitipupa, the Resident Electoral Commissioner in Ondo State, Mr. Mutiu Agboke, said electoral officials arrived early at polling units and security personnel were adequately deployed across the six participating local government areas.
INEC acknowledged reports of network-related challenges affecting voter accreditation in some locations but said its technical team was working to resolve the issues. The commission also noted that no security incidents or casualties had been recorded during the election.
The by-election is being held to fill the vacant Ondo South Senatorial seat. INEC reiterated that polling unit results will be uploaded to the IReV portal through the BVAS system after votes are counted and documented at the polling units.
