The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has called on political parties and other stakeholders to ensure transparency and peaceful conduct before, during, and after the Ondo South Senatorial District by-election scheduled for June 20.
Speaking during the distribution of sensitive electoral materials in Akure, Ondo State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr. Mutiu Agboke, urged stakeholders to reject vote-buying, violence, and any actions capable of disrupting the electoral process. He assured voters that INEC officials had been trained to follow established electoral guidelines and ensure that votes count.
Agboke said the distribution of sensitive materials marked the final stage of the commission’s preparations for the election. He also disclosed that security agencies were collaborating with INEC to safeguard voters, personnel, and election materials.
Representatives of participating political parties and the Inter-Party Advisory Council commended INEC’s level of preparedness and expressed confidence in the conduct of the by-election.
