The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has directed the Katsina State Police Command to strengthen security around schools across the state.
The directive was conveyed by the Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Department of Finance and Administration, Sulaiman Abdul, during a two-day operational tour of Katsina. The tour included assessments of security measures at selected educational institutions, including the Police Children School and the Government Girls Technical and Commercial College in Charanchi Local Government Area.
According to the police, the command has been directed to intensify patrols, strengthen intelligence gathering, and maintain a visible security presence around schools to help provide a safe environment for teaching and learning. The DIG also inspected security infrastructure and met with school administrators to discuss security concerns.
He encouraged school authorities to enforce access control measures and promptly report suspicious activities to security agencies. The move forms part of efforts to strengthen the protection of students, staff, and educational facilities across the state.
