The Federal Government, 36 states and the 774 local government councils shared a total of 2.257 trillion naira from the Federation Account as revenue generated in April 2026, reflecting improved collections from major tax and non-oil revenue sources. The allocation was approved at the May 2026 meeting of the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) held in Abuja.
In a statement issued on Monday June 15, the Director of Press and Public Relations in the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation, Bawa Mokwa, said the distributable revenue comprised 1.260 trillion naira from statutory revenue, 747.088 billion naira from Value Added Tax (VAT), and 250 billion naira as augmentation.
According to the statement, the total gross revenue available in April stood at 3.184 trillion naira. However, deductions for cost of collection amounted to 113.756 billion naira, while transfers, refunds and savings accounted for 813.839 billion naira.
The communiqué noted that gross statutory revenue increased significantly to 2.378 trillion naira in April, representing a rise of 678.224 billion naira compared to the 1.699 trillion naira recorded in March 2026. Similarly, VAT collections rose to 806.617 billion naira in April from 664.425 billion naira in the previous month, indicating an increase of 142.192 billion naira.
The latest allocation highlights continued growth in federally collected revenue, driven largely by stronger tax receipts and improved non-oil earnings despite lower returns from some petroleum-related taxes.
