The Kwara State Police Command has condemned a deadly shooting incident in Ilorin that claimed four lives and left two others injured.
According to the Command, the incident occurred at about 9 PM on Sunday, June 14, at the Post Office area of Ilorin, where armed men reportedly stormed a makeshift bamboo bar along the railway line and opened fire on people gathered at the spot before fleeing.
The police said operatives responded swiftly to a distress call and evacuated the victims to the Police Clinic. Medical personnel later confirmed four persons dead, while two others are currently receiving treatment for gunshot injuries.
Preliminary investigations, according to the Command, indicate that the attack is linked to cult activities. Two suspects have already been arrested and are assisting investigators with useful information to track down other fleeing members.
The Police Command assured residents that security measures have been strengthened across Ilorin and other parts of the state to prevent a recurrence of such violent incidents.
