The Edo State Police Command says it has made significant progress in the investigation into the abduction of a woman at a popular market along Airport Road in Benin City.
According to the police, operatives from the Anti-Violent Crime Unit and Anti-Kidnapping Unit are actively tracking the suspects involved in the incident, which gained widespread attention after a video circulated on social media.
Police confirmed that the victim was with family members when the abduction occurred. While details of the investigation have not been disclosed for operational reasons, authorities say efforts are ongoing to secure the victim’s rescue and apprehend those responsible.
Governor Monday Okpebholo has condemned the incident and directed security agencies to intensify efforts to ensure the victim’s safe return. The government also reassured residents of its commitment to public safety and security across the state.
