Jigawa Farmers Hopeful for Strong Harvests, Call for Timely Farm Input Support
Farmers in Dutse Local Government Area of Jigawa State say the start of the rainy season has boosted optimism for a productive farming year.
Speaking to NAN, several farmers expressed hope that consistent rainfall would support crop growth and improve agricultural output. However, they appealed for the timely distribution of fertilisers, improved seeds, and other farming inputs to help maximise yields.
Some farmers also raised concerns about the rising cost of agricultural inputs, noting that many small-scale farmers face difficulties accessing fertilisers, seeds, chemicals, and financial support. They said affordable inputs and targeted assistance could help improve food production and livelihoods.
The farmers further called on government agencies, development partners, and financial institutions to support agricultural activities and promote modern farming practices. With agriculture remaining a major source of livelihood in Jigawa, many are looking forward to a successful farming season.
