President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed deep sorrow over the death of retired Major-General Rabe Abubakar, who reportedly died while being held captive by terrorists in Katsina State.
In a statement issued on Saturday June 13 by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu sympathised with the late general’s family and expressed particular concern over the continued captivity of his wife. He also extended his condolences to the Katsina State Government, and the Nigerian Armed Forces over the loss of the retired officer.
While mourning the late general, Tinubu reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to confront terrorism and banditry without compromise, stressing that terrorists should continue to be treated as enemies of the state and dealt with decisively.
The late Major-General Abubakar retired from military service a few years ago after a career that spanned several years in the defence of the country. His death has once again drawn attention to the growing threat posed by terrorists and kidnappers in parts of northern Nigeria.
