Nigeria’s Office of the Tax Ombud says work is ongoing to address the issue of multiple taxation through closer coordination with revenue authorities across all levels of government.
According to the office, the Joint Revenue Board is working to harmonise tax administration between federal, state and local government structures to reduce duplication and improve efficiency in the system.
The Tax Ombud also says it remains committed to protecting taxpayers’ rights, improving dispute resolution, and strengthening public trust in the tax system through engagement with stakeholders, including the media.
It further disclosed that new digital tools, including a website, call centre and case management portal, have been introduced to make it easier for taxpayers to access information and submit complaints.
The office reaffirmed its commitment to fairness, transparency and improved tax administration nationwide.
