Listen

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Waidi Shaibu, has urged Nigeria’s banking sector to intensify efforts aimed at disrupting terrorism financing and other illicit financial flows linked to insecurity.

He made the call in Abuja while receiving the Group Managing Director of United Bank for Africa (UBA), stressing the need for stronger financial monitoring and intelligence-sharing to track suspicious transactions linked to criminal activities.

The COAS also announced a partnership with the bank to develop mortgage and housing schemes to support serving and retired military personnel as part of ongoing welfare improvements.

In response, the bank pledged continued support for the Nigerian Army, including financial solutions, infrastructure assistance, and welfare-focused initiatives for troops.
