The All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN), Lagos State chapter, has praised the Federal Government’s fertiliser distribution programme targeting 79,040 farmers across 26 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
AFAN described the initiative as a timely intervention that could help reduce production costs for farmers and support increased food production. According to the association, about 3,040 farmers in each beneficiary state are expected to receive four bags of fertiliser through the Nigeria Agricultural Development Fund (NADF).
The association said the fertilisers are being distributed through AFAN to ensure they reach genuine farmers, with regional distribution activities already scheduled across parts of the country.
AFAN also noted that the support comes at a time when farmers continue to face high input costs, expressing optimism that the programme will ease some of the financial pressure on agricultural production and contribute to improved food availability.
