Efforts to boost food production and improve livelihoods in Kaduna State have received a boost as the Agricultural Agenda Nigeria Initiative (AANI), in partnership with the Dogara Gyet Foundation (DGF), launched an Agricultural Intervention Support Programme targeting women and young people.
According to a joint statement by both organisations, the first phase of the programme has empowered 200 widows and youths involved in agricultural production across 10 communities in Kachia and Jaba Local Government Areas. Beneficiaries received training in agribusiness development, entrepreneurship, climate-smart agriculture, climate resilience, and agricultural value chain opportunities.
The initiative, implemented under the Outgrow Hunger Project, also organised participants into cooperative clusters to improve access to financing, farm inputs, mechanisation support, and other development opportunities aimed at strengthening smallholder farming.
AANI and DGF said the programme is designed to support food security, reduce poverty, and create sustainable livelihoods, while promoting inclusive agricultural development in rural communities.
