The Nigerian Army says its Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Welfare Flight Programme has airlifted 332 military personnel in and out of the North-East operational theatre as part of routine troop rotation and welfare support.
According to an operational report, the first welfare flight for June transported 174 personnel into the Operation Hadin Kai theatre, while 158 personnel were airlifted out. The operation, conducted with a chartered aircraft, was completed without incident.
The Army described the welfare flight as a key initiative designed to improve troop welfare, morale and operational efficiency. The programme also helps reduce the stress and risks associated with long-distance ground travel in operational areas.
Military authorities said more than 33,000 personnel have been moved through the welfare flight programme since its introduction, making it an important part of manpower management and operational readiness in the North-East.
