Listen

Education stakeholders have expressed support for the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) following its nationwide solidarity protest over the abduction of pupils and teachers in Oyo State.

Speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), educationists described the protest as a legitimate call for improved safety in schools and communities. They urged authorities to take urgent steps to secure the release of abducted victims and strengthen security measures across the country.

The stakeholders noted that insecurity continues to create anxiety among parents, pupils and teachers, with concerns about the impact on learning and school attendance. They stressed the importance of ensuring that schools remain safe environments for education.

They also called for stronger collaboration among government institutions, security agencies and communities to improve safety and restore public confidence in the education system.
