LAGOS TRADERS, RESIDENTS LAMENT LOW SALLAH PATRONAGE AMID RISING FOOD PRICES

Listen

Traders and residents in Lagos say this year’s Eid-el-Kabir market activity is slower than expected as rising food and livestock prices continue to affect spending.

Some traders told NAN that patronage has dropped compared to previous Sallah celebrations, with many customers complaining about limited funds. Food sellers also said prices of tomatoes, rice, pepper and other essentials remain high despite slight reductions in some markets.

Residents also expressed concern over the cost of sacrificial animals. Some buyers said families are now contributing money together to purchase a ram or cow for the celebration.

Despite the economic pressure, many residents say they still plan to celebrate Eid-el-Kabir in the best way they can with family and friends.
