HEAT WAVE LINKED TO RISING ANIMAL DISEASE CASES IN BAUCHI — VETERINARIAN

Listen

A Bauchi-based veterinarian, Dr Abubakar Tilde, says rising temperatures are contributing to increased cases of zoonotic diseases in the state.

Speaking in Bauchi, the expert said more than 100 animals were treated at veterinary clinics across the metropolis in May 2026, with some illnesses linked to extreme weather conditions and transportation stress.

Tilde explained that while some diseases are seasonal, excessive heat and cold can also trigger health complications in animals. He added that the state has veterinary clinics in Bauchi metropolis and across 20 local government areas to improve access to animal healthcare services.
