SOUTH AFRICA LEADS MEDAL TABLE AS NIGERIA HOLDS SECOND PLACE AT AFRICAN CYCLING CHAMPIONSHIP

South Africa is currently leading the medal table at the 2026 African Track Cycling Championships, while Nigeria holds second place in the standings.

The Cycling Federation of Nigeria reports that a total of 103 medals have been won so far, including gold, silver and bronze across participating countries.

South Africa leads with 19 gold medals, while Nigeria follows with seven gold, seven silver and nine bronze medals. Egypt is in third place, with Algeria and Benin Republic rounding out the top five.

The championship is taking place at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium Velodrome in Abuja and features athletes from eight African countries.

The competition continues as riders battle for more medals on the final day of the championship.
