Listen

A disturbing video has emerged showing one of the abducted school administrators from the recent attack in Oyo State, appealing for urgent intervention and peaceful negotiation with her captors, even as authorities and residents confirm that 7 teachers and 39 pupils were taken in the incident.

The video, obtained on Sunday, showed Mrs Alamu Folawe, Principal of Community High School, Ahoro-Esinele in Orire Local Government Area of Oyo State, speaking under captivity. In the footage, she appealed directly to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, and the leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), urging them to ensure a peaceful resolution.

The attack, which affected LA School and Community Grammar School in Ahoro-Esinele, as well as surrounding communities in Orire LGA, reportedly claimed the life of a teacher and a motorcyclist during the assailants’ escape.

Residents said the attackers also stole four motorcycles from nearby communities, including Yawota and school premises, before fleeing through rural routes.

The Oyo State Government had earlier stated that security operatives were tracking the kidnappers, who were believed to be trapped within the national park corridor between northern Oyo and southern Kwara axis.

The release of the video has heightened tension across affected communities, with families demanding swift action from security agencies and government authorities to secure the release of the abducted victims unharmed.
