RIVERS POLICE BEGIN DISCIPLINARY ACTION OVER SUSPECT’S ESCAPE

The Rivers State Police Command says it has begun disciplinary proceedings against an officer following the escape of a suspect from detention.

Police spokesperson ASP Blessing Agabe said the officer, ASP Ekawhe Thomas, has been detained and issued a formal query in line with existing police disciplinary procedures. The officer was attached to the Criminal Investigation Department.

The command also confirmed that efforts are ongoing to re-apprehend the fleeing suspect, while investigations into the incident continue.

Police authorities say the command remains committed to professionalism, accountability and the protection of citizens’ rights across the state.
