The Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Waidi Shaibu, says Nigerian Army Aviation is playing an increasingly important role in ongoing military operations across different parts of the country.

Speaking at the Chief of Army Staff First Bi-Annual Conference 2026 in Abuja, he said the use of air assets alongside ground troops has improved mobility, rapid response and operational effectiveness.

According to the COAS, Army aviation recently supported troop operations in difficult terrains in the North-East, including the Tunggutu Triangle, marking a major operational milestone.

He also stated that the Army is strengthening deployments, reconfiguring formations and adopting more technology-driven and intelligence-led strategies to address evolving security challenges.

The conference brought together senior officers and commanders to review operations and discuss strategies for the rest of the year.
