FG TARGETS FOOD SECURITY, JOBS THROUGH AGRO-PROCESSING ZONES PROGRAMME

Listen

The Federal Government says it is intensifying efforts to reform Nigeria’s food systems and reduce post-harvest losses through the Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zones (SAPZ) Programme.

Officials said the programme is designed to promote agro-processing, attract private sector investment, create jobs for youths and women, and strengthen food security across participating states.

The government added that SAPZ will help move Nigeria’s agricultural sector from raw commodity exports to value-added production while supporting rural industrialisation and economic growth.

Project coordinators also said farmers are already receiving support through training, improved farming practices and community seed production initiatives.
