The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has called for stronger collaboration among government agencies, civil society groups and other stakeholders to support the implementation of Nigeria’s National Action Plan (NAP) 2024–2026 on human rights.
The call was made during a consultative meeting held in Lokoja, where participants discussed coordinated efforts to improve human rights protection and accountability across the country.
Representatives at the meeting identified challenges including insecurity, unemployment, poor prison conditions and human rights violations, while urging increased public awareness and stronger monitoring of institutions.
The NHRC also encouraged wider grassroots engagement and continued dialogue with stakeholders to strengthen the promotion and protection of human rights in Nigeria.
