Troops of the Guards Brigade say they foiled a potential security breach in Abuja after arresting a suspected spy and four suspected impostors during separate operations across the FCT.
According to the Nigerian Army, the suspected spy was intercepted during a routine patrol near the Presidential Wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport. Authorities said the suspect was found loitering in a restricted area and is currently under investigation.
In another operation in the Gwarinpa area, troops arrested four suspects allegedly dressed in military camouflage. Recovered items reportedly included a ballistic helmet, fragmentation jacket, dagger, motorcycles and mobile phones.
The Army said the operations are part of ongoing efforts to strengthen security around sensitive locations in the nation’s capital and prevent infiltration by criminal elements. Investigations are ongoing.
