Troops of Nigerian Army under Operation UDO KA have stepped up operations across the South-East, arresting a suspected gunrunner and raiding criminal hideouts in Abia State and Imo State.
The suspect was picked up in Ukwa East, with early findings linking him to a weapons supply chain moving arms from Bayelsa to criminal groups. Efforts are ongoing to recover the weapons and track down other members of the network.
In Imo, troops survived an ambush along the SPDC–Etekuru road in Ohaji/Egbema, where they later recovered two burnt vehicles and two bodies.
Security forces also stormed a suspected hideout in Oguta, arresting five suspects—with one reportedly offering to lead operatives to an armoury.
The military says the operations are part of a broader push to dismantle criminal networks and restore peace across the region.
