Nigeria’s Defence Minister, Christopher Musa, is calling on students to step up and support national security efforts, stressing that keeping the country safe is everyone’s responsibility.
Speaking to students of Veritas University during a visit to the Ministry of Defence, the minister urged young Nigerians to stay alert and report suspicious activities.
“Security is not for government alone,” he said, encouraging a culture of vigilance and unity.
Beyond that, Musa highlighted efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s defence capacity—especially through local production of military equipment via Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria, including drones to reduce reliance on foreign imports.
He also warned students against cybercrime, urging them instead to use their skills for national development, while promoting military training as a tool for discipline and resilience.
For the visiting students, the experience offered a closer look at Nigeria’s defence system—and a reminder that security starts with everyone.
