Abuja — Momentum is building ahead of 2027 as APC stakeholders in Abia have purchased governorship nomination forms for Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu, urging him to step into the race.
The group says Kalu’s track record at the National Assembly—spanning legislative impact, party unity, and constituency projects—makes him the right man to lead Abia.
They argue his leadership has already strengthened the APC in the South-East and could replicate that progress at the state level.
Kalu, however, is keeping his cards close. While thanking the group, he promised a final decision “in the coming days,” stressing the need for unity and dialogue over political tension.
He also used the moment to rally support for President Tinubu ahead of 2027, hinting at broader party ambitions in the region.
