Umuahia — Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) in Abia have praised the Centre for Citizens with Disabilities (CCD) for a hands-on training that equips them to push for inclusion in Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) benefits.
Participants described the workshop as “timely and impactful,” saying it gave them the knowledge and confidence to demand their rights—peacefully and strategically.
They vowed to take the advocacy back to their communities, stressing that true development must include everyone, especially in oil-producing areas.
CCD said the training was necessary because the PIA currently overlooks PWDs, despite existing disability laws.
