Abuja, April 30, 2026 — Dr Tonye Timi of the South/South Development Commission (SSDC) has advised stakeholders in Bomadi/Patani Federal Constituency to prioritise performance over personal loyalty ahead of the 2027 elections.
Speaking in Abuja, Timi said true democracy thrives on accountability, not familiarity, stressing that representation must be judged by results, not tenure or emotion.
He noted that lawmakers should be assessed by their legislative output—such as bills sponsored, motions raised, oversight activities, and how much federal presence they attract to their constituencies.
According to him, long stay in office without visible impact risks stagnation, adding that leadership renewal can bring fresh ideas and stronger representation.
Timi also urged stakeholders to consider inclusiveness and fairness in political representation, especially in diverse communities within the constituency.
He said the 2027 elections present a key opportunity to choose leaders who are active, responsive, and focused on development rather than sentiment.
“The focus should be on impact, not loyalty,” he stressed.
