The Federal Government has launched three key committees aimed at strengthening national security and improving the welfare of military veterans.
Defence Minister, Christopher Musa, unveiled the panels in Abuja, covering border security, defence funding, and veterans’ welfare reforms.
According to him, the move is about turning defence policies into real action—boosting coordination among security agencies, improving readiness, and ensuring retired personnel are better cared for.
One committee will design a tech-driven, intelligence-based border system, while another will map out a 5–10 year funding plan for defence infrastructure and operations.
A third panel will focus on improving veterans’ welfare, access to support services, and overall recognition of ex-military personnel.
The minister said the committees have one month to deliver practical recommendations, stressing transparency, efficiency, and value for money.
Officials say the initiative signals a stronger push to modernise Nigeria’s security framework while giving veterans the dignity and support they deserve.
