IGP CRACKS DOWN: OFFICERS TO BE DISMISSED, PROSECUTED OVER DELTA KILLING

Listen

The Inspector-General of Police has ordered the immediate dismissal and prosecution of ASP Nuhu Usman and other officers involved in the killing of 28-year-old Mene Ogidi in Effurun, Delta State.

The directive, reportedly backed by senior police authorities including the Force leadership, follows investigations into the incident, which has sparked outrage and calls for justice.

Police authorities say the officers will not only be removed from service but will also face criminal prosecution, signalling a tougher stance against misconduct within the force.

The killing has reignited concerns over police brutality, with many Nigerians demanding accountability and reforms.

Officials insist the action underscores a zero-tolerance policy for abuse of power, stressing that no officer found guilty will be shielded.

The police also assured the public that due process will be followed and justice served.
