Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force and Economic and Financial Crimes Commission have rescued 14 passengers abducted by sea pirates along the Calabar–Oron waterways.
Police spokesperson Timfon John said the breakthrough came after intelligence-led operations and sustained pressure on criminal groups operating in the maritime corridor.
All victims were rescued unharmed and are currently receiving medical care and debriefing before reuniting with their families.
Commissioner of Police Baba Azare praised the joint effort, saying it highlights the power of inter-agency collaboration in tackling complex security threats.
Security forces have now intensified efforts to track down the fleeing pirates behind the attack.
