The Enugu State Police Command has rescued a kidnap victim and arrested a 27-year-old suspect linked to a job scam-turned-kidnap syndicate.
Police say victims were lured online with fake job offers, then directed to meet in Eke Obinagu, Emene before being taken to a hideout in Akpuoga Nike, where they were held and forced to pay ransom.
The latest victim reportedly paid ₦500,000, while another earlier victim was extorted ₦100,000.
The suspect is now in custody and assisting police to track down other gang members and dismantle the network.
Authorities are warning residents to verify online job offers and report suspicious activities immediately.
