STRIKE OVER! FCT TEACHERS HEAD BACK TO CLASSROOMS

Listen

The FCT wing of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) has suspended its strike with immediate effect, clearing the way for primary and secondary school teachers to resume work.

Union Chairman, Abdullahi Shafa, said the decision followed fresh intervention by FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, who approved a N5 billion monthly package to tackle unpaid entitlements and implement a 40% allowance.

The deal includes N2 billion from FCT revenue and N3 billion from Area Councils’ share, alongside promises to fix promotion bottlenecks.

Teachers have been directed to return to classrooms from April 27, with assurances of no victimisation—though the union warns it may act again if the agreement isn’t honoured.
