The All Progressives Congress (APC) has slammed Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, over his mention of “Operation Wetie” at an opposition summit in Ibadan, calling it reckless and a threat to national security.
APC spokesman, Felix Morka, said invoking one of Nigeria’s darkest political violence episodes was “dangerous incitement,” especially from a sitting governor responsible for maintaining peace.
The party urged security agencies to take the comment seriously, stressing that political speech must not fuel instability or lawlessness.
APC also took a swipe at opposition parties, accusing them of internal crises, weak leadership, and lacking a clear alternative vision for Nigeria ahead of 2027.
