OGUN POLICE DEBUNK VIRAL “ARMED MEN” VIDEO

Listen

The Ogun State Police Command has dismissed a viral video claiming armed men are operating in the state, describing it as fake and panic-inducing.

According to police spokesperson Oluseyi Babaseyi, investigations show the footage wasn’t shot in Ogun—or anywhere in Nigeria. Instead, it traces back to Kenya, filmed during an anti–cattle rustling operation and first posted online in 2022.

Police say the clip is now being recycled with a false narrative to spark fear and confusion.

Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, warned against spreading unverified content, stressing there’s no intelligence backing claims of armed groups in Ogun forests. He urged residents to rely on official updates and avoid fueling unnecessary panic.
