HORROR IN BENUE: GUNMEN KILL TRADITIONAL RULER, WIFE, 2 OTHERS

Gunmen have killed a traditional ruler, Chief Alexander Awodi, his wife, and two others in Agatu LGA of Benue State, police have confirmed.

According to the Command’s spokesperson, DSP Edet Udeme, the attackers stormed the monarch’s residence and opened fire, sparking panic as residents fled for safety.

Local sources say the assailants reportedly four men on motorcycles—blended in at first, speaking the local dialect before launching the deadly attack.

The attack lasted nearly 20 minutes, with the gunmen also moving to a nearby house where they killed two more people and injured another before escaping.

Police say a full-scale investigation is underway to track down those responsible.

The incident adds to growing security concerns in Agatu, a region long troubled by violence.
