Residents of the FCT are raising alarm over worsening economic hardship, saying basic living has become increasingly difficult.
Many told NAN that skyrocketing food prices and transport costs are eating deep into their incomes, forcing families to cut meals, borrow money, and adopt survival tactics like group savings.
A civil servant, Grace Okoro, said her salary can no longer cover essentials, while another worker, Abel Akpan, blamed fuel subsidy removal for pushing many into debt.
For taxi drivers like Adigun Lateef, it’s even tougher—fuel costs now compete with feeding their families, leaving many stressed and struggling.
Experts say the situation is policy-driven, warning that subsidy removal, inflation, and insecurity are worsening poverty and food shortages. They’re calling for long-term solutions—not just temporary relief.
