Residents of Ilara-Mokin, Ondo State, have been left in shock after a woman, Oluwasola Victoria Adebayo, reportedly slumped and died while waiting for her child writing the ongoing UTME.
Eyewitnesses said the woman, like many Nigerian parents, had accompanied her child to the exam centre on Monday morning. But what began as a routine show of support quickly turned tragic when she complained of sudden weakness and collapsed at Ilara-Mokin Junction.
Passersby rushed to help, but efforts to revive her failed. She was confirmed dead on the spot.
A resident, who identified her as “Mommy Ayo,” described the moment as heartbreaking. “She said she was there for her daughter’s exam… nobody saw this coming,” the witness said.
In a painful twist, her child was still inside the examination hall at the time—unaware of the devastating loss unfolding outside.
Police in Ondo confirmed the incident, noting that the family has been contacted and the remains released to a relative after proper identification. The cause of death is yet to be determined.
The incident has since sparked fresh concern over stress, health awareness, and emergency response—especially during high-pressure national exams like UTME.
