Listen

The All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN) in Kaduna says it has registered about 2,700 farmers as it positions members to benefit from a new agricultural empowerment programme.

State Chairman, Kabiru Salihu, disclosed that the registration—featuring over 700 women—is part of efforts to build credible data for planning and ensure fair access to support initiatives.

According to him, the association is also restructuring its grassroots leadership across all 23 LGAs and 225 wards, with a strong push to include women and youths in decision-making roles.

“We are not just registering farmers; we are building an inclusive system where women and young people have a voice,” Salihu said.

He revealed that Kaduna is set to benefit from the Resilient, Inclusive Agri-food Systems Empowerment programme, which aims to support 50,000 farmers directly and about 128,000 indirectly.

Salihu stressed that accurate registration would be key to ensuring transparency in selecting beneficiaries.
