LAGOS POLICE NAB 4 OVER FAKE PETROL DEAL IN SATELLITE TOWN

Listen

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested four suspects over an alleged petroleum fraud scheme in Satellite Town, Lagos.

The suspects, aged between 33 and 43, were picked up on April 14 after reportedly attempting to secure Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) at suspiciously low prices using false pretences.

Police sources say the product belonged to AA Rano Nigeria Limited, and the suspects allegedly brought in five articulated trucks with different number plates as part of the deal.

Investigations revealed they planned to move over 60,000 litres of PMS using multiple trucks under questionable pricing and unverifiable details.

The scam was uncovered by the company’s Chief Security Officer, who flagged the irregularities and handed the suspects over to authorities.

Commissioner of Police Fatai Tijani has since ordered the case transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, for deeper investigation.

At the SCID, Deputy Commissioner Dayo Akinbisehin confirmed that investigations are complete and the suspects will be charged to court.

Police say the crackdown is part of ongoing efforts to protect businesses and curb fraud in the petroleum sector.
