The Cross River State Police Command says it prosecuted 412 cases between January and December 2025, securing 31 convictions and closing 26 cases.
Speaking in Calabar, police spokesperson Sunday Eitokpah revealed that the command recorded 1,142 cases and made 1,390 arrests within the period.
Theft and stealing topped the list with 444 cases and 493 arrests, followed by offences against persons, assault, and property-related crimes.
Murder: 63 cases, 92 arrests, 34 in court, 29 pending
Rape: 61 cases, 96 arrests, 2 convictions so far
Assault: 109 cases, 142 arrests
Fraud (false pretence): 62 cases, 67 arrests
Kidnapping: Just 2 cases recorded
Eitokpah noted that while several cases are already in court, many remain pending, reflecting ongoing judicial processes.
The data offers a snapshot of crime trends in the state—and the police say efforts are ongoing to improve prosecution and justice delivery.
