ANAMBRA SPORTS BOSS PUSHES FOR MERIT-BASED APPOINTMENTS TO BOOST DEVELOPMENT

Listen

Want better sports results? Anambra’s sports director says it starts with putting the right people in the right seats.

The Anambra State Director of Sports, Emeka Obidinma, is calling for competence and merit in the appointment of sports officials, saying it is key to improving performance and development in the sector.

Speaking in Awka, Obidinma stressed that sports administration needs leaders who are accessible, passionate, and genuinely understand both indoor and outdoor games.

According to him, the Sports Commission Chairman should be someone who listens and is ready to work closely with stakeholders to implement development programmes effectively.

He also highlighted the urgent need for more sports facilities in the state, noting that Anambra currently lacks a functional indoor sports complex.

Obidinma added that investing in sports infrastructure would help engage young people and reduce youth restiveness across communities.

For him, the message is simple: better leadership plus better facilities equals stronger sports development in Anambra.
