Night raids, sealed shops, and arrests—Lagos isn’t joking about waste anymore.
The Lagos Waste Management Authority has launched a tough enforcement sweep in Alimosho, arresting offenders and sealing properties over illegal waste disposal.
Led by its Project W.I.S.E team, the operation hit hotspots around Ikotun, where a teenager was caught dumping refuse at night, while businesses—including a car lot and furniture showroom—were shut for violating environmental rules.
Authorities also moved in after residents’ complaints, sealing a property used for illegal dumping and arresting a security guard linked to the act.
LAWMA boss Muyiwa Gbadegesin warned that indiscriminate dumping and waste burning won’t be tolerated, urging residents to stick with approved waste operators.
Dump illegally, and expect a knock on your door.
