Big crowd, bigger expectations — over 8,500 fresh students have officially joined Modibbo Adama University, Yola, with a strict warning: play by the rules or face the consequences.

Yola, April 16, 2026 — Modibbo Adama University, Yola, has matriculated 8,591 undergraduate and postgraduate students for the 2025/2026 academic session, officially opening a new academic journey for the fresh intakes.

Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ibrahim Umar, made the disclosure at the matriculation ceremony on Thursday, congratulating the students and urging them to embrace discipline, integrity and academic excellence.

“As you begin this journey, you are committing yourselves to the pursuit of knowledge and responsibility,” he said.

He warned that the institution maintains zero tolerance for examination malpractice, cultism, drug abuse and other social vices, adding that strict sanctions await offenders.

Umar also revealed that 132 international students were admitted into various postgraduate programmes, describing it as a sign of the university’s growing global appeal.

He noted that the institution has expanded with new faculties, including Communication and Mass Media Studies, Computing, and Arts, alongside infrastructure upgrades such as 24-hour solar-powered electricity.

He added that ongoing hostel projects are aimed at easing accommodation challenges, assuring students of improved welfare and support throughout their studies.
