It was endurance, discipline, and teamwork on display as NDA cadets battled it out in a high-intensity combat swimming competition.
Abyssinia Battalion has emerged overall winner of the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) inter-battalion combat swimming competition for 73 Regular Course Army cadets.
The event, held at the NDA swimming pool in Afaka, Kaduna, tested cadets on combat readiness, endurance, and teamwork through a series of physically demanding exercises.
According to the academy, participants competed in events such as combat swims with and without rifles, endurance swims, tower jumps, and relay races designed to simulate real battlefield conditions, especially in riverine operations.
At the end of the contest, Abyssinia Battalion topped the table with five gold, three silver, and two bronze medals, followed by Dalet Battalion in second place, while Burma Battalion came third.
The Deputy Commandant of NDA, AVM A.K. Bello, commended the cadets for their performance, describing combat swimming as a critical military skill for operational effectiveness.
He added that such exercises help build mental toughness, leadership, and coordination, key qualities required in modern military operations.
The academy said the competition reflects its commitment to training officers capable of operating in diverse and challenging environments.
