If “the Commandant” slides into your DMs with a contract deal, it’s not an opportunity it’s a scam.
The Nigerian Defence Academy has raised the alarm over fraudsters impersonating its Commandant, Oluyemi Olatoye, to dupe unsuspecting Nigerians online.
According to NDA spokesperson Reuben Kovangiya, scammers are using platforms like Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok, Instagram, and X to push fake contract offers and lure victims.
The Academy made it clear: these accounts are fraudulent and any engagement is at your own risk.
“The Commandant does not conduct official business via personal social media,” Kovangiya stressed, adding that all legitimate communication comes only through verified NDA channels and recognised media outlets.
The warning comes amid rising online scams targeting individuals with promises of lucrative deals.
If it sounds too official to be true, double-check — or better still, walk away.
