Flying Antelopes soar with a solid home win

Rangers International FC of Enugu claimed a 2-0 victory over Kano Pillars on Sunday at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Matchday 24 of the NPFL.

Emmanuel Essien opened the scoring in the 12th minute, firing home a loose ball outside the box. In the second half, captain Chidiebere Nwobodo sealed the win with a brilliant solo run into the penalty area, doubling Rangers’ lead.

The win lifts Rangers to 36 points, climbing to third place on the 20-team table, while Kano Pillars remain in the relegation zone.

Rangers coach Fidelis Ilechukwu hailed the victory, calling it a tough battle and stressing the need to improve finishing. Kano Pillars coach Baba Ganaru admitted the defeat was unexpected, blaming lapses in tactical discipline.
